WashU Finds Genetic Mutations That Increase Ovarian Cancer Risk

At least one in five women with ovarian cancer inherited genetic mutations that increased the risk of the disease, according to research from the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis. This study is one of the first large-scale analyses of all genes for genetic variations that influence ovarian cancer. Researchers performed a genetic analysis of tumors in women with ovarian cancer and compared them with the women’s own DNA and with samples of women who did not have ovarian cancer.
