Improving health in America through evidence-based research is the goal of the new Center for Health Economics and Policy at Washington University in St. Louis.
Housed in the university’s Institute for Public Health, the center will be co-directed by Dr. Timothy McBride, professor at the Brown School and a noted health economist; and Dr. William A. Peck, the Alan A. and Edith L. Wolff Distinguished Professor of Medicine and president of the Washington University Medical Center.
The center’s mission will be to encourage the development of high-quality, evidence-based research that focuses on improving the health of people and disseminating that work to policy makers and other stakeholders.
The center will:
“These efforts will build a foundation for scholarly research and teaching, which will attract the best and brightest students and faculty from the field, helping to disseminate high-quality work to national and regional leaders to solve public health problems,” McBride said.
