Yale Examines Unique Needs of Caregivers and Care Recipients

Dr. Joan Monin, assistant professor of epidemiology in the division of social and behavioral sciences at the Yale School of Public Health, examines how emotional processes affect health in older adult relationships. Dr. Monin’s work aims to define the personal dynamics that can be used to create interventions, more effective support services, and care both for older adult caregivers as well as those for whom they care. Her current research focuses on the unique experiences of older caregivers who are veterans, and the importance of being independent to persons with spinal cord injuries.
