Yale Research Leads to New Law Limiting Tanning Bed Use in CT

A Yale School of Public Health study completed last year that identified a strong association between indoor tanning and basal cell carcinoma (BCC), a form of skin cancer, in young people in Connecticut contributed important data to existing research on melanoma, the most lethal form of skin cancer, for the new law. The Yale research found that people who used indoor tanning beds had a 69 percent increased risk of early-onset BCC compared with those who did not tan indoors.
